RoboRAVE BANGLADESH

In conjunction with non-profit organization: RoboRAVE International

A collaborative international robotics program made easily accessible, enjoyable, playful, and STEM encouraging

RoboRAVE International is an educational robotics program apart of Inquiry Facilitators (IF) Inc., a non-profit and program established by Russ Fisher-Ives in New Mexico. This program was designed to teach students and teachers how to build and program robots to fulfill various tasks in a fun and collaborative manner. What started at a total of twenty five students and three teachers participating in 2001 is now a programs thousands partake in to play and learn about robotics globally. RoboRAVE International holds robotics competitions annually in various countries that are collaborative with the organization; currently spread over twenty two countries including Bangladesh. The international robotics competitions are OPEN PLATFORM events where any robot and any software can be used by anyone from anywhere. These tournaments are open to teams (up to four players) of children from age eight to adults up to ninety nine as there are various levels, divisions (elementary school, middle school, high school, university/professional), and types of robotics matches (SumoBot (LEGO), SumoBot, Lighter than Air, Jousting, Iq Innovative Robot, Fire Fighting, AlpineBot, a-MAZE-ing, STEaM Art, Line Following, FastBot, Entrepreneurial) including RoboEthics debates where events are permitted. In 2019, RoboRAVE International also introduced online programs RoboSensei and RoboRAVE-ONLINE in order to make RoboRAVE Robotics accessible to “any kid, anywhere”. This has been a very timely and useful addition since in response to Covid-19 in 2020, these programs have allowed students to participate in challenges virtually, not just physically, from anywhere in the world. RoboRAVE-ONLINE is affordable, hands on, international, and fun for all ages.

RoboRAVE Bangladesh

As of 2018, RoboRAVE Bangladesh is now apart of the participating countries within RoboRAVE International. We from CHP have been attempting to provide less privileged schools in Dhaka, Bangladesh an extra curricular robotics program to further students interest within STEM subjects/studies because “today’s play is tomorrow’s pay”. Since female students in Bangladesh are incredibly lacking within the current male dominated STEM fields, one of our goals is to encourage and help more female students discover the fun and excitement within STEM subjects/fields starting with robotics to join the already enthusiastic male student population. The more impoverished a school is in third world Bangladesh, the less likely that they have privileged programs such as robotics to partake in. However, though there are many very eager and maritorious students interested in partaking in RoboRAVE, funding for equipment and transportation is always difficult to collect or find sponsors for. Therefore, your interest and contributions are needed to help students in grade schools (such as Kurmitola middle and high school) of Bangladesh to further their futures within STEM.
