Ramadan & Eid al-Adha Feeding

Ramadan

Ramadan is a full month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community that over a billion globally partake in every year. Fasting from sunrise to sunset is obligatory for all Muslim adults who are not acutely or chronically ill, traveling, elderly, breastfeeding, suffering of health issues such as diabetes, or menstruating as these factors make it much more difficult to fast without any solid foods or liquids.

The purpose of this month is to reset your mind and body, healthily, in an attempt to make aware of the plethora you have that many live without, the essentials one should be grateful for. By simply switching your food intake schedule from day to night gives one’s mind the illusion of minor sensations of starvation.

However, in third world countries like Bangladesh, millions can’t afford to eat daily throughout the year which remains the case through this month. During Ramadan months since 2017, CHP has been using your full donations for this cause to feed those in need during sundown when the fast is broken/ends for the day and during sunrise when fasting for the day begins. We distribute food to various areas of Dhaka, Bangladesh as well as among a few remote villages.

Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha, also known as the ‘feast of the sacrifice’ is a holiday celebrated worldwide in honor of Ibrahim’s act of obedience a little over two months after Eid al-Fitr. The purpose of this auspicious event is a reminder of the looming hunger issues many around the world suffer daily and creating a reason to give back.

Families will offer a lamb, sheep, goat, or cow for Adha. At the least, two-thirds of the animal is to be distributed amongst the poor and needy. For the past four years during Eid al-Adha festivities, CHP has been distributing cows to various destitute villages in Bangladesh. The meat is distributed amongst the poor communities primarily within five villages.

Affording meat for consumption is a luxury amongst the population in these villages. 100% of the donations collected for this event goes towards purchasing these animals, preparing, and distributing in entirety to the villagers.
